“Opam” Honoured for impacting Greatly in Youth in Media Act Production.
Ghana’s media production received a boost when the Class of 2019 graduated from FLASH MEDIA TRAINING SCHOOL last Saturday.
The graduation ceremony held in Sika Hall of Atinka Media Village which was MC Sammy Flex was attended by happy students and their proud families, Royals, and captains in Television, Radio, Film, Folklore & Copyright.
Nana Yaw Akuoko, Chairman of the school’s Governing Board congratulated Managing Proprietor Mr. Clement Amankwah better known in the film industry as Opam for his vision, and dedication to helping build the capacity of the youth in Media Arts Production.
Chairman Mr. Richard Prempeh, Managing Director of Village Communications Ltd and former Chairman of Audio Visual Rights Society of Ghana (ARSOG) urged the graduates to use their skills to improve media production in Ghana and beyond, learning from the past to guide the present, and to create a better path for the future.
In an inspirational keynote address, multiple award-winning Broadcaster, Culture, and Fashion icon, and Managing Director of The Finest Media, Brands & Culture Ltd stressed the need for the graduates to see every imported film, television show, radio and online content as a direct challenge to them from this day forward. He entreated faculty and students to question, rethink and create relevant competitive content to replace such imported material moving forward for the cultural and employment benefit of Ghana.

Best student in News Reporting in English: Grace Arthur, the Best student in Radio and Television Production: Edmund Osei Ankrah.
Current Chairman of ARSOG Mr. Kofi Owusu advised the graduates to learn all there is to know about copyright so as to protect their intellectual property and refrain from infringing the law.
Entertainment at the event was exciting with great performances by Piesie Esther, Joyce Blessing and Fameye of hit song “Nothing I get” fame.

CITIZEN ARE AGAINST THE VIGILANTE’S
Ex-president John Dramani Mahama, now presidential aspirants of the NDC also warned in January this year that Ghana is entering what he calls dangerous times following this rise in vigilante groups in the country.
Mr. Mahama said that it was high time civil society organizations interfered so that the country’s peace and sustainable should be in order. Hence the introduction of the vigilante group was formed to provide security within the NDC which was is to investigate crimes against opposition party or properties cause the prior to come into office in 2020 to preventing stanching of ballot boxes.
Views from people outside do agree to go on a demonstration over this vigilante groups which the NDC and NPP are causing much problems and they stated that Ghana is just one country and Ghana is for us all, so peace should reign not war.

How Nana Ama McBrown Started Her Acting Career
Nana Ama McBrown answered an auction call on the radio by Miracle Films and was hired to do costuming instead.
However, on the set, she was able to snag the lead role after the director, Samuel Nyamekye, felt that she was better suited for the role. In 2001, her first movie, That Day, was released launching her career.
Her performance in That Day opened the floodgates to choicer roles, landing her a spot on the TV series Tentacles.
In 2007, the movie Asoreba, co-starring Agya Koo and Mercy Aseidu, turned Nana Ama into a household name. Since then, she has slowly built a strong following by releasing a slew of critically acclaimed movies.

The Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia Visits Flood Victims
The Vice President of the Republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has, on behalf of Government, handed over assorted emergency relief items to the victims of flooding in some communities in the Upper East and West regions.
The items include student size mattresses; bundles of clothes; chlorine; bags of maize, sugar and rice; boxes of cooking oil; soap; blankets; plastic buckets, bowls, cups and mats; bags of sachet water, as well as boxes of mosquito coils and treated mosquito nets.
The families of those who passed away as a result of the flood also received cash donations to help lessen the burden such deaths had imposed on them.
Unusually heavy rainfall this year has caused major devastation in parts of the three northern regions. The spillage of the Bagre Dam in Burkina Faso has only worsened the situation, leading to the loss of several lives and the destruction of property worth millions of Ghana cedis.
Affected communities include Mangu, Kambali and Kunbiehi in the Wa Municipality of the Upper West region; Walinbalee in the Sissala East District; Siniesi in the Builsa North district; Kologo in the Kassena Nankana East District; and Winkogo in the Talensi district, all in the Upper East Region.
Accompanied by the Minister for the Interior who is also MP for Nandom, Hon Ambrose Dery; Minister for Defence and MP for Bimbilla, Hon Dominic Nitiwul; Minister for Aviation and MP for Navrongo Central, Hon Joseph Adda, the Director General of the National Disaster Management Organisation, Eric Nana Agyemang-Prempeh, and other officials, Vice President Bawumia inspected the damage and commiserated with the victims.
He also pledged government’s commitment to deal with the factors that led to the floods and deaths, including broken bridges and the lack of flood control measures such as dams.

President Nana Akufo-Addo is in China on a state visit. President of China Xi Jinping held talks
with Akufo-Addo at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Saturday.
The president is expected to finalise an ‘infrastructure-for-bauxite’ agreement which will see the
Chinese government construct $2bn worth of roads, hospitals, bridges and other infrastructure
in exchange for access to Ghana’s bauxite deposits.

Gollywood TV Launched on July 12, 2018
Creativity, Cultural and Entertainment. The stakeholders comprising the leadership of the
various groups of the movie sector launched the name at the Ghana 60 Years on Film Summit
which was held on July 12, 2018 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The movie makers chose Gollywood as the name for the movie industry.
Present at the programme were President of Ghana Actors Guild, Samuel Fiscian and the South African High Commission to Ghana, H.E Lulu Xingwana, among others. Also present film producers Socrate Sarfo (Movie Africa), Abdul Salam Mumuni (Venus Films), Paul Adjei (Paul Gee) and actors like Fiifi Coleman, Nadia Buari, Jackie Appiah and Naana Hayford.
In the past, some entertainment critics suggested names like Ghallygold, Ghallywood and Anansekrom.

Amissah-Arthur ‘runs slow’ through the city of Accra for the last
The casket containing the mortal remains of late Vice President, Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur
was Friday, marched through some principal streets of Accra on its final journey to the newly
built Military Cemetery at Tse Addo in Accra.
Hundreds followed the casket from the Accra International Conference Centre where pre-burial
service was held for the late former Vice President.
Hundreds followed the march to the new military cemetary which was commissioned in April
2018. It has the capacity to accommodate more than 10,000 graves to be made of military
personnel, General’s, retired personnel and their entitled families.
The facility also has a space for Presidential and prominent citizens of the country. The Military
High Command ensured the new cemetery was built to relieve pressure on the Osu Military
Cemetery, which is reportedly running out of burial space.

Socrate Safo got over heated at Film Ghana- Canada workshop.
Every year, the Canada high commissioner in Ghana gets some lectures in Film and Television from Canada to have a workshop with film makers in Ghana.
This year’s workshop started on the 5th to 7th of December. During the workshop, they had some guests like the Deputy Minister of Education and a member of parliament at Cape Coast North (HON. BARBARA AYISI ASHER) who gave a brief talk about how we can promote our culture through our movies and also she gave an assurance that the film industry will rise up again.
The main guest speaker MR. SOCRATE SAFO (the director of National commission on culture) was enthused by the words from the Deputy Minister of Education, and backs her up by saying that with the Creative Art sector in conjunction with the government they will try their possible best to support the industry to be able to reach it maximum height. He also said, it will be best if we can have one data for film industry and also a fixed price that any artist will take from a producer. As he spoke, some of the industry players such as BOB SMITH JNR. Popularly known as DIABOLO MAN, WAAKYE, MR.AKWETEY KANYI, and other organizations and institutions such as FIPAG, GAMI VISION, CREW ASSOCIATION, FLASH MEDIA TRAINING STUDENTS, AND NAFTI STUDENTS gave him a full support on his words.CLEMENT AMANKWAH popularly known as OPAM a Director and Producer was the main organizer for the workshop. He said that if this workshop will continue every year, then it should be like how this year has been which was supported and sponsored by the Canada High Commissioner in Ghana, Commission on culture , Multichoice , GO TV and the coordinator JAMES ABOAGYE ( Formal Secretary of FIPAG ).
The facilitators (MR. PAUL ANDREW AND HELGA- LIZ HABERFELLNER) a renowned Film lectures in France was very proud at the end of the workshop. They said this workshop has been the best ever and promised to be available anytime they call.
